Not gauzy
The fabric is not really gauze. Or, it’s a very thin gauze layer over white batting with a black nylon backing. The white shows through at seams, especially when topstitched. That aside, it’s warm and not too stiff, considering how thick it is. I’m hoping the transparency issue will resolve in the wash. Definitely an experiment.
Pretty Plum
Love the color and texture. I bought it to make a jacket with gathers in the front, and it might be a little heavy for that. I have ideas for 2 or 3 other projects. The reverse side is a darker plum, almost black, that I think could stand on it’s own, or be used in color blacking...
Lovely soft fabric
This isn't a bit stiff like I thought it might be. Just the fabric needed for an unstructured jacket or vest. I've been mulling over which pattern will be the right fit. I intend this for my young step-granddaughter for part of a back to school outfit. She loves, reds, plums, purples. I'm looking forward to sewing this up.
